Carolina In My Mind

I am a mountain girl. I am a forest, bird, tree, grass, trail girl.
I don't really like the beach. I like the pool, but not the beach.
Give me a creek and some rocks.
You can be on a mountain and feel as if you are all alone. I like silence.
I lost my glasses in the ocean once. My sister had to drive home. The replacement glasses set me back $250.
The ocean is sand and sky.
I think the mountains are a better backdrop.

ACCCKK!

What the ham sandwich makes this stuff taste so awful. Bleehh! And the taste lingers. Should have known to wait and buy the other flavor. The berry was stocked and the lemonade was sold out. Twice a day. Like drinking that awful Thermaflu. *gag reflect*

Touch me, Tease me feel me and caress me--

Lookit! I bought for Lix for Valentine's day. I was so excited! 16 Gs baby! not 8Gs but 16Gs. He wanted one for Christmas, but with the economy going the way it was going, I wanted to be sure I still had a job for the long haul. I'm safe for the 1st qtr that is. So I researched and researched and made my purchase. This lil gadget is truly cool, so many apps! I rarely buy items such as this, and I forgot about the warranty, but the sales guy said I could come back within 90 days and have it added. I did it all by myself and he was none the wiser. I am my own Hero. 16Gs baby!

$11 splurge

Our balconey receives direct sunlight here in sunny Florida, so I made a break for Home Depot and purchased some outdoor rug material. The heat or even a cold spell can make the wood almost unbearable on the tootsies.

When I added this I was so happy I could enjoy my lil balconey barefoot. Everyone here at the complex have their own version of an outside room. Hammocks, bistro sets, lights, grills, potted plants, etc. 6.5' x 11.5' of pure outside enjoyment.

I'm Building My Dream Home

Yep, three stories, bay windows, attic, wood floors, four fireplaces...all of that! lol Still working on the room colors. I can't decide on a dollhouse imagine when I really do buy a house.

SETBACK IS A SETUP FOR A COMEBACK

I remember when I was around 8 or 9, my Mom attempted to teach me how to crochet. She would crochet blankets mostly, ie: lapghans, full size, throws and baby. We had a session and she was very patient and I on the other hand could not grasp the concept. I was completely angry that the whole half double crochet instruction was not turning out a blanket that closely resembled one of her creations. My mom told me just be patient, take your time, you can try another pattern. I declared very fed up and angrily that "I won't learn then."

This occasionally became my motto. Once I failed at something, it was hard to think I'd accomplish anything. I have failures and accomplishments. The failures sometimes completely overshadow the great moments. It can weigh my spirit down and my faith in myself. It can take me back to a time I was not a success at some random task. You are you're own worst enemy, for sure.

Once I failed at something, it was hard to think I'd accomplish anything. Repeating that helps me focus on rebounding back from that failure and taking a different route to success or looking at it from another level. My spirit may break many times. I try to remember that when it does, giving up for a time my make the comeback that much more greater.

Secret #42.

I have books in my library, that I am slighty embarrassed to admit that I have bought and read. lol

A rose by any other name....

The wonderful boyfriend, had flowers delievered to the job on Friday. How nice. Everyone stopped by to admire them. How nice. I love fresh flowers, but I really do not care for the smell of a rose. However, they are beautiful. Thank you Alex!

Memory Lane. Happy Valentine's Day!

This is the closest version I could find, to the story I heard as a kid in CCD. However, I remember the daughter was blind and he restored her sight.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Valentine. I lived in Rome during the third century. That was long, long ago! At that time, Rome was ruled by an emperor named Claudius. I didn't like Emperor Claudius, and I wasn't the only one! A lot of people shared my feelings.
Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected men to volunteer to join. Many men just did not want to fight in wars. They did not want to leave their wives and families. As you might have guessed, not many men signed up. This made Claudius furious. So what happened? He had a crazy idea. He thought that if men were not married, they would not mind joining the army. So Claudius decided not to allow any more marriages. Young people thought his new law was cruel. I thought it was preposterous! I certainly wasn't going to support that law!
Did I mention that I was a priest? One of my favourite activities was to marry couples. Even after Emperor Claudius passed his law, I kept on performing marriage ceremonies -- secretly, of course. It was really quite exciting. Imagine a small candlelit room with only the bride and groom and myself. We would whisper the words of the ceremony, listening all the while for the steps of soldiers.
One night, we did hear footsteps. It was scary! Thank goodness the couple I was marrying escaped in time. I was caught. (Not quite as light on my feet as I used to be, I guess.) I was thrown in jail and told that my punishment was death.
I tried to stay cheerful. And do you know what? Wonderful things happened. Many young people came to the jail to visit me. They threw flowers and notes up to my window. They wanted me to know that they, too, believed in love.
One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. Her father allowed her to visit me in the cell. Sometimes we would sit and talk for hours. She helped me to keep my spirits up. She agreed that I did the right thing by ignoring the Emperor and going ahead with the secret marriages. On the day I was to die, I left my friend a little note thanking her for her friendship and loyalty. I signed it, "Love from your Valentine."
I believe that note started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine's Day. It was written on the day I died, February 14, 269 A.D. Now, every year on this day, people remember. But most importantly, they think about love and friendship. And when they think of Emperor Claudius, they remember how he tried to stand in the way of love, and they laugh -- because they know that love can't be beaten!

Life in the fast lane...

Yes a birdhouse attached to a traffic light. The city paid to have this installed? Or is it a decoy, hidden camera. Too many questions.

Home Delivery

My local library offers home delivery! How cool is that? Prior to this knowledge, I would only buy books I knew had to be added to my library. I do not like my local library. It's in a strip mall. That is so weird to me. I'm used to libraries being in amazing brick buildings with tree lined walkways. Ok Ok trees and a plot of land nearby. N E way. I'm not inspired to walk the aisles of books in an ugly store front building. I once would visit the library three times a week. Now it's more like once a month. I only read four books last year. Three years ago I read four a month. Let's see how this home delivery pans out.

What kinda game is this?

Tub full of water or lake full of fish? Okay, call me crazy, but if you hate taking baths so much to the point where you hide under tables and chairs, why would you drag me five feet to get into the tiny reservoir and walk along the bank? I've seen you submerge your nose to tug on a root, but oh how you hate being so close to the bath wall in the tub. I hate to see you're sad eyes as I come to tempt you out of hiding. Bath time is in five days.

My lovely, charming, smart niece Mo-Mo, hates to take pictures. I told her this picture not only hides her beauty but, she appears to have a very low IQ.

Nightcap.

I have a coffee addiction. I have tried to wean myself off it, to one cup a day. I've tried hot chocolate in it's place. BOOO! Not even close. Tea replaced it for one week. Alas, I shall Invest in Crest Whitestrips. Oh and Carr's Ginger Lemon Cookies-are soooo good with it! On a scale on 1-10 these cookies are a 15!

Lil Star...My Deena

This Little "girl" is such a great doggie. She is a charming character alright.

She's a great companion, entertaining, athletic, fearless, enthusiastic, loving, funny, and loyal.

She also will rip you're shorts to shreds if she does not know you, snake catcher, lizard chaser, squirrel and bird hunter, digger: poop, towel, paper, and sock eater.

If any object, be it a crumb of food or a piece of mail accidently drops to the floor, it takes miliseconds for her to reach it. As if she has extraordinary senses that enables her to detect when an object leaves your hand and in midflight the ability to show up at the particular spot where the object will land.

My Deena is a small wonder.
